The air in your Greater Cleveland area home may be negatively affecting the health and well-being of all who live there. The sad fact is that the air in your home may be far dirtier than what’s outside. Poor indoor air quality causes or exacerbates asthma and allergy symptoms, headaches, fatigue and nausea. Installing an electrostatic air filter in your heating and cooling system will help reduce the potentially harmful particles in your home’s air.
An electrostatic air filter is a long-lasting reusable filter that attaches to HVAC systems and cold air returns. Much like disposable fiberglass air filters, the main job of an electrostatic air filter is to stop microscopic contaminants from polluting your home’s air. One side of the filter is made from several layers of polyurethane and polypropylene material, while a polyester mesh covers the opposite side. The entire frame of the filter is made with aluminum, which improves its durability.
A static charge is required for the electrostatic air filter to work properly. This charge occurs when air passes through the filter. This charges the filter one way and the microscopic particles the opposite way. Essentially, the static charge gives the filter magnet-like qualities, which attracts the opposite-charged particles. The filter than traps the charged particles until it needs to be cleaned.
Electrostatic air filters trap many airborne particles including (but not limited to):
- Mold and mildew spores
- Dust
- Pet dander
- Pollen
- Bacteria
- Odor
- Dust mites
Benefits of Electrostatic Air Filters
Electrostatic air filters will help reduce the amount of microscopic contaminants you are breathing in. Clean air not only boosts your overall health; it improves your home comfort level.
