Ohio Summers Are Often Humid — And Uncomfortable, Without A Dehumidification System

It’s safe to say that most people don’t love humidity, but we still have to deal with it here in the greater Cleveland area. Around here, a home comfort system, including both air conditioning and whole-house dehumidification (and heating of course), can make a big difference. Luckily, most complete systems these days come with integrated humidity-controlling equipment.

A/C can’t go it alone

Many homeowners are under the impression that A/C will combat humidity as well. Not true – air conditioning systems are not designed to measure and control the level of humidity in your home. In fact, if you have A/C only, it will have to work harder to do its job of keeping you cool during humid times. Dehumidifiers make it possible for you to set your room temperature higher and still feel just as comfortable, saving energy. Your integrated whole-house dehumidifier will conveniently, automatically come on to control humidity so that you never have to think about it.

Improving your IAQ

While you enjoy energy savings, comfort and convenience, you’ll also be protecting your home from the damage that moisture, including moist indoor air, can cause. Mold and mildew are not likely to grow in a controlled humidity environment. Anyone with allergies will notice a big improvement in indoor air quality, since excess humidity breeds dust mites and encourages the formation and circulation of bacteria in the air.

Cutting costs

If you’re replacing your home comfort system, consider purchasing a new system complete with dehumidification. Be sure to take advantage of the federal tax credits in place for energy-efficient equipment, which will help defray the cost. In the meantime, you’ll start recouping immediately with lower monthly utility bills.
